Concealment Products for After you Receive CCW Training

Congratulations on working towards your Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit. You made it past the training and now are waiting to complete the background checks and fingerprinting. Your next step is to determine what products are available.

Holsters

I get asked at every gun show “What do you have for concealed carry?” I reply by asking questions. What type of pistol do you have, do you want to carry your pistol on your ankle, waist, shoulder, pocket or carry in your purse? Can the holster be made from leather, nylon or kydex plastic? Kydex is the lightest, usually weighs a few ounces and is form fitted to one gun. Nylon holsters are slightly heavier but depending on their design, can fit multiple guns. Leather is the heaviest and can be designed to fit one or multiple pistols. My ITP Universal Leather Holster fits thousands of pistols.

How many holsters do you need? When searching the Internet, I found people owned from one to four holsters per gun. I have even more per gun, but I field test every holster offered on my website.

When I take my dog out for a quick walk, I’ll carry my Ruger LCP or Taurus .38 using the wallet or pocket holster. When I wear shorts and a T-Shirt, I wear a belly band and pack my Glock 36 or the Taurus .38. If I am out for a while, I’ll carry my S&W M&P 40 using the shoulder holster or Packin-T. It’s great to have options. You can see all of my Concealed Carry Holsters here.

Accessories

Lasers: I am a big fan of lasers. I know some folks will disagree with me, but I shoot further and more accurately with them. While learning how to shoot, a laser shows when you’re jerking the trigger, dipping the muzzle before you fire, etc. Do you want a green or red dot laser with a solid beam, strobing or both? Do you want a laser and flashlight combo? You can see examples of rail mount, rear sight, trigger guard and frame mount lasers here.

Flashlights: Flashlights are great for lighting things up inside or outside the house. Strobing flashlights confuse the target, giving you an advantage. Flashlights can be rail mounted or hand held and I offer both types.

If you purchased a pistol that does not have an accessory rail, you are still in luck. I have some great Rail Adapters

The bottom line is to determine how to carry, what accessories you want, and the holster type. Keep in mind as your needs change, so can your method of carry.
