Viridian Reactor 5 Green Laser – Ruger LCP and LC9

I have been selling lasers for over eight years and the Reactor 5 from Viridian Viridian R5 is one nice green dot laser. It mounts to your pistol by wrapping around the pistol’s trigger guard just like the red dot Centerfire from LaserMax and the Defender from Crimson Trace.

It weighs under one ounce like the LaserMax and Crimson Trace but this is where the similarities stop.

Viridian has taken their Reactor 5 green dot laser Viridian R5 sight to the next step by adding a few high end features. The LED on the left side of the laser activates for two seconds and glows green or red. When its glows red, you have 20% power or less in the two batteries.

Viridian Ruger R5 Green LaserThe laser can be set on one of two modes, solid or pulse. The reason for a pulsing laser beam is your eye is drawn to a pulsing or blinking light faster than a solid light. A pulsing beam also extends the battery life. The on/off button is on the left side of the laser but when using their pocket holster it really does not matter.

Viridian includes an Enhanced Combat Ready (ECR) pocket holster with the laser. If you holster your Ruger with the laser activated in either mode, the laser is turned off while in the holster. When you remove the Ruger from the holster, the laser is automatically turned on. If the laser is turned off when placing the Ruger in the holster, it remains off when removed from the holster.

Installation is straightforward, easy and took me under five minutes. As usual, Viridian includes the Allen wrenches and batteries. Viridian claims approximately one hour of battery life and the beam is visible for 300 feet daylight and up to two miles at night.

One word of caution, when installing the laser, the screw that’s below the Ruger’s trigger is shorter than the other two and you must be careful to only use the short screw in this location.
