Colorado Gun Control Recall Election

Governor John Hickenlooper made Colorado history by finally setting the date of Sept. 10, 2013 for the recall elections of two pro-gun law Colorado state senators, making this the first recall effort in the Colorado’s history.

GunnerSecurity.comBoth of the petitions collected more signatures than needed to force the recall election of Senator John Morse of Colorado Springs and Senator Angela Giron of Pueblo. Both voted in favor of gun control measures that require universal background checks for gun sales and limiting ammunition magazines to 15 rounds.

Personally, I am all for background checks but anyone who knows about high capacity magazines knows a 15 or 30 round mag can be swapped out in about one second. Capacity really does not matter.

Morse really ticked a lot of folks when stated “people who own guns are essentially a sickness on our soul”. I admit, recent events have shocked all of us and my heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones but I do not have a sick soul.

Both Morse and Giron say they are ready for the recall election and Morse states” “I have already been elected twice; I am excited by the prospect of being elected a third time”. Guess we’ll know his future by Sept. 11th.

I sell concealed carry products and here is an email I received from an individual a short time ago.

“Subject: GUN CONTROLL STATE

Message Body:
Dear sirs I have researched wallet holsters and yours look like a very well designed product but unfortunately you are in a state that is anti gun and I can not in good conscience support any business in Co. until your laws are changed. I will be ordering a different holster. Actions have consequences.”

I did not vote for either Morse or Giron and I do not live in Colorado Springs or Pueblo.  I am involved in selling concealed carry items and belong to shootings ranges and organizations.  Maybe someone can explain his comment to me.

  1. Interesting that Colorado gathered enough signatures to force a recall for 2 of your senators. I agree with your 30 round magazine comment. It takes me the same amount of time to swap a 10, 15 or 30 round magazine. Guess you’ll find out what happens in a few months.

    • Thanks for the comment. Gun control is such an emotional item right now and it has really caused some issues for many people.

  2. Really, recalling elected officials just because you don’t agree with them. What’s this world coming to? I have nothing against gun owners but the crazies with the high powered rifles and hundreds of bullets need to be stopped. I had my fill of guns in Vietnam and I don’t care for them anymore. Not sure they wallet holster person singled you out. As you mentioned, you had nothing to do with it.

  3. I doubt you can even find Vietnam on a map, much less have served there. If you had, the you swore an oath to upload the Constitution, which includes the Bill of Rights. The Second Amendment isn’t about hunting. Finally, the politicians were recalled because they didn’t represent the will of their constituents, which is a perfectly valid reason to recall them… Anyone with any ability critically think can understand the concepts I’ve just laid out.
